These past two holiday seasons have been difficult being away from family and visitors. Isolation and the pressure to keep everyone safe has placed added stress to our staff and individuals who have been removed from their normal routine. But, through all the COVID chaos, we are grateful for two bright spots: our staff and our supporters.

Blossom Hill Staff Members

Our motto was coined by one of our dedicated board members years ago: “where love is the quality of care.” No one embodies this more than our staff of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and nurses. To our direct caregivers, our motto is more than lip service, it’s a calling. They provide the best care possible to the 36 individuals who live at our four Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs). Some of the individuals who live in our family-like group setting have lived there for more than half their lives. And some of our staff members have been at Blossom Hill for more than 25 years. Even for the newer staff, the individuals are treated like family.

The latest COVID outbreak in Northeast Ohio has made staffing particularly difficult. However, our small but mighty team have truly stepped up to the plate working doubles, overnights, filling in on a moment’s notice, doing everything they can to make sure the individuals receive the absolute best care, despite the circumstances.

While we are all ready for the pandemic to come to an end and get back to our normal routines, we would like to pause and recognize our incredible team of caregivers doing what they do best – providing loving care to each individual at Blossom Hill.

Blossom Hill Supporters

As a nonprofit organization, Blossom Hill relies on the generosity of our amazing supporters. Their support comes in many different forms – from delivering chocolate hand-dipped peanuts to all staff members, to buying and arranging flowers for funerals, to regularly surprising staff with ice cream, to donating turkeys every Thanksgiving, our supporters have always been there for our staff and individuals.

This year, our supporters stepped up in a unique way – to help with meal deliveries during COVID surges. These meals were for staff who are working round-the-clock and for the individuals to make sure they had great meals during the holidays. Our generous supporters helped coordinate with local restaurants to deliver these hot meals.

We could not be prouder of their willingness to step in with very little notice and for being so dedicated to making the holidays a special time for the staff and individuals.
